[en] Radiological characterisation of radioactive waste makes possible to identify and to quantify its composition on radioactive nuclides. Acceptance criteria are verified by radiological characterisation and also radiological characterisation is used for a more realistic evaluation of the radiological impact. Some important radioactive nuclide are not easily quantified, so that the development of specific procedures is required. This paper shows the work carried out by Ciemat on radiological characterisation of low and intermediate level waste. Developed procedures include both destructive and non destructive techniques than have been transferred to Enresa and have been evaluated satisfactorily by round robin tests at international level.
