AbstractAbstract
[en] Radioactive tracer isotope 82Br is used to study the exchange properties of strongly basic isoporous Indion FF-IP and weakly basic macroporous Indion-850 ion exchange resins. The study reveals that basicity of ion exchange resin plays an important role in ion exchange behaviour under identical operating parameters. The results indicate that specific reaction rate (min-1) and amount of bromide ion exchanged (millimoles) are 0.126 and 1.498 respectively for Indion FF -IP as compared to that of 0.090 and 0.786 respectively for Indion-850 for same amount of ion exchange resin 0.5 gm at same temperature. Therefore strongly basic Indion FF -IP is more efficient for industrial application in a wide pH range than weakly basic Indion-850. (author)
