AbstractAbstract
[en] The changes of thermal conductivity and cation inter-diffusion coefficient in Gd-doped UO2 was investigated. The thermal conductivity was measured by laser-flash method using (U, Gd)O2. Thermal conductivity is decreased with increasing Gd content in UO2. This is because that Gd cations in UO2 act as a scattering site of thermal phonon propagation. The cation inter-diffusion coefficients of U and Gd in UO2 lattice were obtained using UO2/10wt%Gd2O3 doped UO2 diffusion couple. The inter-diffusion coefficient is composition dependant and increasing Gd concentration. This result is due to the oxygen vacancies or interstitial cations-type lattice defects creation by Gd cation substitution in UO2 lattice
