[en] In order to prove accuracy of the scintigraphy with Technetium 99m labeled leukocytes to detect infections in bones, joints and soft tissues 41 examinations were made using a SPECT Gamma Camera and Planar Camera. The results were: 17 positive diagnoses for infections, one of them false positive, and 24 negative, with one false negative. All the patients were examined separately by two specialist in Nuclear Medicine, interrupting the antibiotic treatment 24-48 hours before the study. The study showed high diagnostic sensitivity, with relevant values for the treatment and clinical evolution of the patients. We therefore concluded that the marked leukocytes are a very useful method in the diagnosis of infectious pathologies. (author)
