[en] NaI(TI), BGO and CsI(TI) crystals in compact arrays will be used at RIKEN RI Beam Factory in the near future to detect gamma-rays from fast moving nuclei produced in nuclear reactions with radioactive beams, and among them CsI(TI) for light charged particle identification as well. The latter system will consist of 312 Cs(TI) crystals coupled to silicon photodiodes in a hemispherical arrangement, four detectors packed together with their own preamplifiers in each of the 78 parallelepipedic thin walled aluminum containers.
