AbstractAbstract
[en] After presenting a summary of the special characteristics of the electricity market, this book analyses various electricity market models and examines the effects of international agreements and the particular problems presented by the transport of energy. Various liberalisation models are described and the experience gained in Chile, England and Wales, Australia, the USA and the EU are discussed. On this basis, the situation in Switzerland is examined and the planned opening of the electricity market is described. In a critical commentary on the planned electricity market legislation, the authors list a series of weaknesses that, according to their opinion, are to be found in the proposed opening of the electricity market. Questions on electricity transport and distribution as well as on regulatory authorities, non-amortisable investments and water taxes are looked at. Environmental, regional and socio-political aspects are also discussed
