AbstractAbstract
[en] The resonance levels Ex=10.372 MeV and 10.398 MeV were produced from the 31P(p,γ)32S reaction at Ep=1.557 MeV and 1.583 MeV, respectively. The γ-rays in the primary and the secondary transitions from the resonance state were measured with a Compton suppression detection system. The lifetimes of the excited levels, 4.282, 6.255, 6.666, 7.190, 7.485, and 7.702 MeV, in 32S were determined by analyzing the Doppler shifts of the measured γ-rays. In the process of determining the lifetimes, the stopping power of the target material is required, so an empirical stopping power based on the experimental results of Ziegler was applied to the calculation of the lifetimes. The results for the lifetimes were 41.9±3.9, 76.3±8.4, 7.1±2.5, 8.4±1.2, and 96±28 fs, respectively
