AbstractAbstract
[en] A review is made of accurate measurements of surface magnetic field intensities of binary X-ray pulsars, using cyclotron resonance features in their X-ray spectra. The field strengths so far measured from about 15 objects are clustered in a range of (1-4) x 108 T. Implications of these results are discussed, leading to an inference that the strong magnetic field of neutron starts might result from alignment of the neutron star magnetic moments. (author)
