AbstractAbstract
[en] Objective: To investigate the effect of flavone material in maize pollen on reducing blood fat in SD rats and to provide the treatment basis. Methods: Animal models of SD rats with high blood fat were obtained by feeding high fat and high cholesterol diet. For treatment, flavone materials from maize pollen were given by gavage to three groups of animals at the dose of 400 mg/kg, 200 mg/kg and 100 mg/kg q.d respectively. Changes of the blood contents of triglyceride (TG) and cholesterol were observed 20 days later. Results: Animals treated with pollen flavone for 20 days exhibited marked fail in blood TG and cholesterol in all the three groups with best result in the middle dosage group (200 mg/kg). Conclusion: Flavone materials from maize pollen possessed marked therapeutic effect on experimental hyperlipidemia in rats
