AbstractAbstract
[en] Full text: Magnetic and Moessbauer investigations on the cubic spinels CoGa2-xFexO4 with x = 0.2, 0.3, 0.8 and 1.0 point to spin glass-like behavior and relaxation phenomena at intermediate temperatures for samples with low and to spin fluctuations for samples with high iron content. To obtain more detailed information about the magnetic order and site distribution of the iron atoms, 57Fe Moessbauer investigations were performed between 5 and 300 K in fields up to 13.5 T. For x ≥ 0.8 a clear separation into two different magnetically split components, each of them consisting of several slightly different sub-spectra, is present. These two components can be attributed to iron atoms both on A and B sites, indicating that the samples are not regular but at least partial inverse spinels. At 5 K and zero field the difference of the magnetic hyperfine fields for the A and B sites is small. It is, however, large at high fields, because for the B site the hyperfine splitting increases with external fields, whereas it decreases for the A site. Further, the spectrum related to the B site exhibits a larger polarization for a given field as the one for the A site. The degree of polarization of the spectra allocated to A increases with iron content. For the samples with lower iron content a similar behavior is found, but the spectra at high fields are muck less resolved than the ones of the samples with x ≥ 0.8, pointing to a more complex behavior.
