AbstractAbstract
[en] Fabrication aspects of research reactor plate fuels in the light of past experience and the future requirements covering Al clad, Al-U and Al-Pu (HEU type) and Al-Mg clad, Al-U3Si2 and Al-U-Zr (with higher uranium density, LEU type) are brought out. The powder metallurgy route is involved in the fabrication of the Al-U3Si2 fuel. The ingot metallurgy route is involved in the fabrication of alloy fuels for both HEU and LEU types. In all these cases picture-frame technique is utilized for the roll-bonding of the clad components. Only mini-plates have been prepared in case of the LEU type fuels. (author)
