AbstractAbstract
[en] The middling fraction from a beneficiation of the Cua Hoi beach sand contains a significant amount of useful minerals such as ilmenite, zircon, rutile, and monazite. In order to make full recovery of the minerals mentioned above, at the same time to minimize waste volume (TENORM) for disposal, the bench scale beneficiation studies were carried out on a middling sample from the Cua Hoi deposit. Based on their different physical properties, some bench-scale experiments were conducted to separate them into individual mineral concentrates such as a gravity separation on the air and wet shaking tables; a magnetic separation on the roll magnetic separator and NdFeB permanent magnetic band separator; an electrostatic separation on the roll electrostatic separator and screen-plate electrostatic separator and flotation. A combination of various beneficiation methods and appropriate parameter were screened to establish a technological flowsheet. Radioactivity of the products from beneficiation was measured with a portable radiometer. As a result, the mineral concentrates that have been recovered from the beneficiation of Cua Hoi middling fraction met quality requirements from some consumers, whereas waster for disposal was reduced by 73,9 % in volume.
