AbstractAbstract
[en] The International Atomic Energy Agency has a statutory mandate to establish standards of safety for protection of health and to provide for the application of these standards. The current version of these standards, the International Basic Safety Standards for Protection against Ionizing Radiation and for the Safety of Radiation Sources (the BSS), issued in 1996, is co-sponsored by the Food and Agriculture Organization, the International Labor Organization, the Nuclear Energy Agency, the World Health Organization and the Pan American Health Organization. It contains principal requirements covering all practices, and detailed requirements given in six Appendices, one of which addresses medical exposure
