[en] The importance of hydrogen as an energy carrier is pointed out, and its physical and technical properties are described. The mode of hydrogen production is outlined, and its usage for generation of electricity by means of fuel cells is explained. Indicated are the economic and market parameters that should stimulate the domestic industry to develop and adopt, with assistance of the academic community and experts, hydrogen technology as one of the key technologies of the 21st century which has large potentials for creating new jobs that require a high level of knowledge.(author)
