AbstractAbstract
[en] Computer code PROFESS which was developed in early eighties and was used to analyse D-Com blind problem and problems of IAEA CRP FUMEX-I, was upgraded by adding new or improved models. As a part of IAEA coordinated research program on 'Improvement of Models for Fuel Behaviour Simulation System (FUMEX-II),' new models of high burnup effects like rim effect, burnup induced thermal conductivity degradation, diffusion based fission gas release, fuel swelling and cladding oxidation were added to the code. The number of axial segments which can be treated by the code was increased and capability for treatment of re-fabrication and re-irradiation was added to the code. This improved and upgraded code was used to analyse all the priority cases provided by IAEA under the IAEA CRP on FUMEX-II. These cases consisted of (i) cases involving re-fabrication and ramping, (ii) cases without re-fabrication and (iii) simplified cases. PROFESS was able to analyze all these high burnup cases. Good agreement was found between calculated measured values of fuel temperature and fission gas release in most cases. A brief description of models used in the code and the results of PROFESS calculations of FUMEX-II cases are presented in this report. (author)
