AbstractAbstract
[en] The paper presents the results of the measurement of the nuclear physical characteristics on the neutron converter with iron screen. The converter was made as a part of the activities which were performed on the RB reactor, with the aim of converting its thermal neutrons into neutrons whose energy approximates those in fission. Up to the present, an external neutron converter has been made for the above needs (without screen) and an experimental fuel channel. The internal neutron converter is presently being manufactured. The specific characteristics of the neutron converter with iron screen lies in the fact that its energy spectrum is richer in neutrons in the keV energy region and as such it has already been used in developing fast neutron measurement methods, for the purpose of neutron dosimetry for testing the attenuation of fast neutrons in protective materials for irradiating samples in order to determine their composition using the activation analysis and for studying the radioactivity induced in those materials. The use of this experimental device is expected in other fields of reactor and neutron physics, as well as in radiobiology. (author)
