AbstractAbstract
[en] We have produced nanocrystalline titanium dioxide films with different structure (anatase or rutile) by depositing mass selected clusters from the gas phase. Nanoparticles are produced by a pulsed micro-plasma cluster source and selected by aerodynamic separation effects. We have characterized nano-crystalline films by Raman spectro-microscopy and transmission electron microscopy showing that the films assembled with clusters with diameter smaller than roughly 5 nm have a rutile phase whereas larger clusters form films with anatase structure. The film nanostructure can be chosen only by selecting and depositing clusters with different dimensions without any thermal annealing or post-deposition treatment. Our observations suggest that phonon confinement effects are responsible for a significant shift and broadening observed for the Raman peaks. (Authors)
