[en] Preincubation of HT29 cells (colon adenocarcinoma) with low toxic concentrations of 5-LOX inhibitor MK-886 induced apoptotic form of cell death as primary in cell population after photodynamic therapy with hypericin. With the assistance of MTT proliferating assay were selected concentration of both participants (MK-886 and hypericin), which are characteristic with minimal antiproliferative and cytotoxic effect. We analysed cytokinetical parameters, like cellularity of adherent and floating cells, viability and apoptotic index. After 48 preincubation with MK-886 (2.5 μM) only 0.3% of cell were apoptotic. After photodynamic therapy of hypericin (1·10-7 M) population of apoptotic cells was enhanced to 19%. However, by combination of preincubation cells with MK-886 and photodynamic therapy increased apoptotic population to 35% (2·5 μM MK-886/1·10-7 M hypericin) with 17.5% of necrosis occurrence.
