AbstractAbstract
[en] Cytogenetic changes in embryos and young of male rats, irradiated with the dose of 3 Gy of gamma irradiation 25 or 80 days before mating with non-irradiated females were studied. The most distinct changes were found in 15-days old embryos, where the mitotic index was decreased more than by third and frequency of chromosomal aberrations in post-metaphases increased by 57 % in comparison with the progeny of non-irradiated males. One day after birth, the decrease in mitotic index in the spleen was approximately the same as in embryos; however, in the liver, brain hemispheres and cerebellum the decrease induced by paternal irradiation was smaller. During following days, the changes of mitotic index diminished in all organs. The frequency of chromosomal aberrations was sharply increased in all organs one day after birth. In early postnatal period, frequency of chromosomal aberrations lowered only in the spleen and partially in the liver. (authors)
