AbstractAbstract
[en] 1 - Description of program or function: SPOT is an acronym for shielding problems according to Ono and Tsuruo. The motivation for developing this code was based largely on several facts: first, the undefined region in the Rockwell method and consequently in the SDC code (CCC-0060) had to be tested for before one could accept an answer as being valid in many situations; second, the coding of SDC is difficult to follow due to many changes incorporated over the years; third, the methodology originally presented by Ono and Tsuruo (see reference) and developed by Shure and Wallace (see reference) is readily available and is reputedly more accurate. 2 - Method of solution: The old Rockwell method treated the cylindrical source as a line segment embedded a given distance into the cylinder to account for the source self attenuation. The methodology employed by Ono and Tsuruo and used in this code is to approximate the cylindrical source by a segment of an annulus
