AbstractAbstract
[en] 1 - Description of program or function: RBD computes the quantity of a radionuclide taken into the body by inhalation, ingestion or uptake from a wound based on measurements of the retained activity in the body or its appearance in excreta; i.e., bioassay measurements. RBD evaluates both acute and chronic intakes. The package includes database programs for management of the bioassay data and the estimated intakes and radiation doses. Graphical inspection of the data and the computed response are available in the interactive mode. Data for the computation of intake and committed dose exists for the following 42 nuclides: 3H, 11C, 14C, 22Na, 24Na, 32P, 57Co, 58Co, 60Co, 63Ni, 85Sr, 89Sr, 90Sr, 99Tc, 99mTc, 125I, 129I, 131I, 135I, 134Cs, 137Cs, 147Pm, 152Eu, 154Eu, 155Eu, 201Tl, 226Ra, 228Ra, 228Th, 232Th, 234U, 235U, 236U, 238U, U-nat, 238Pu, 239Pu, 241Pu, 241Am, 242Cm, 244Cm, 252Cf. 2 - Method of solution: Estimates of intake are derived by convolution of biological response functions in the manner outlined in Publication 54 of the International Commission on Radiological Protection. Dose estimates are derived from the estimated intake using dose coefficients from Federal Guidance Report 11 (DLC-0167: ZZ-FGR-DOSE). Only the initial activity at the wound site is evaluated; i.e. no dose estimates are provided. See ORNL/TM-11858 for details. 3 - Restrictions on the complexity of the problem: None noted
