AbstractAbstract
[en] The implementation of a radioactive waste management program, focused on the development of waste process technologies to minimize radwaste volumes, resulting from the improvement of storage capacity and environment protection, is part of the ELETRONUCLEAR strategical planning. The following processes and technologies related to the volume reduction are being implemented and others are foreseen to be applied in the future: chemical and mechanical radiological decontamination of metallic parts generated in the Unit 1, in decontamination system available in the Unit 2; chemical radiological decontamination of the spent resins generated in the secondary circuit process of the Unit 1 in the system of the Unit 2. After its decontamination they are reused in the circuit; improvement of the segregation program of dry active wastes focused on the minimization of the waste production to be compacted; supercompaction of the already produced compacted drums; improvement of the liquid radwaste processing system of Unit 1; upgrade in the evaporator package; minimization of the resin volumes used in the purification filters without loss in the efficiency; study of installation of a radwaste liquid transfer, between the two Units to allow use of the more efficient Unit 2 processes and conditioning facilities and to gain more flexibility of process; studies of more efficient process of wet radwaste conditioning like drying of evaporator concentrates.
