AbstractAbstract
[en] In study of the new generation reactor: lead-bismuth (45%Pb-55%Bi)-cooled direct contact boiling water fast reactor (PBWFR), it is important to investigate the removal mechanism of entrained molten Pb-Bi droplets inside steam dryer. The details of molten Pb-Bi droplets impinging on solid surfaces of the dryer have great role in determining the deposition rate of Pb-Bi droplets and dryer's removal efficiency. However, most of the previous work focused on study of normal liquids, e.g. water and organic oil. Details of molten metal droplets colliding on solid surface in steam flow have not been identified clearly. In this study, a new experimental plan is proposed to investigate the phenomena of molten Pb-Bi droplets impinging on surface in argon gas flow. Detailed measurements will be performed with a phase-Doppler anemometer (PDA). Droplets size distribution and velocity will be measured at various impinging angles, and then the corresponding droplets deposition rate and removal efficiency will be estimated. Experimental results are expected to be meaningful for evaluating dryer's performance and optimizing its design in PBWFR. (author)
