[en] Giant cell myocarditis is a rare and - in spite of immunosuppressive therapy - still usually lethal form of myocarditis. It must be verified by biopsy. MR of the heart is capable of 1. providing a non-invasive way of detecting mycardial necrosis; identify ischaemic and non-ischaemic causes and provide a diagnosis of suspected myocarditis; identify affected myocardial regions for biopsy planning; 4. assess the success of the therapy by means of regular course control.
