AbstractAbstract
[en] In this chapter the history of development of use of ionising radiation (radiation technologies, radiation mutagenesis and radiation stimulation of growth) in the Czechoslovakia and in the Slovak Republic are reviewed. Start of the study in radiation chemistry, history of foundation of the Institute for the Research, Production and Application of Radioisotopes (UVVVR, Prague), operation of the Czechoslovak Commission for Atomic Energy and formation of the Nuclear Regulatory Authority of the Slovak Republic (UJD SR) and its role and mission are presented. Reminiscences of Peter Skrabalek (former worker of the UVVVR) and Jozef Misak (first Chairmen of the UJD SR) are included
