AbstractAbstract
[en] A quadtree space partition method for mapping CFD results from a two dimensional domain as initial conditions onto a three dimensional domain is presented. Mapping procedures can be used to reduce the computational run time required to perform a 3D calculation, while maintaining accuracy. The quadtree mapping method presented involves performing a high resolution 2D axis-symmetric calculation and dividing this 2D domain into several rectangular regions to form the presented quadtree structure. Using the quadtree structure reduces the amount of time required to apply precalculated lower-dimension solutions to 3D domains. Initialization speed was measured along with accuracy and used as an indicator to evaluate the effectiveness of this approach. (author)
