AbstractAbstract
[en] This paper presents basic aspects about the Argentine Acceptance Criterion for nuclear power reactors, from the nuclear safety point of view, emphasizing the case of Atucha II NPP. The criterion is carefully described showing its probabilistic origin as well as its practical application. About the matter, the subject of risk is analyzed showing that the criterion is based on the probabilistic concept of the individual radiological risk using the dose limitation system underlying philosophy for radiation protection purposes recommended by the ICRP. Moreover, it is here shown how the criterion helps in the decision-making process concerning people protection in case of potential exposure to ionizing radiation; that is the criterion may be used not only for the acceptance or rejection of a NPP, but also as a decision-making instrument on how to turn it acceptable in case of initial rejection.
