AbstractAbstract
[en] Statistical errors due to edge effects in manual counting the recoil-proton tracks produced by neutrons in NTA film have been determined. The over-estimations were also calculated theoretically by determining the mean projected track length. The percentages of over-estimations have been compared with the experimental results obtained. Neutrons of different energies were obtained from the D(d, n)3He reaction using a 3 MeV Van de Graaff accelerator. After edge effect correction, the sensitivity of the film to neutrons of 3.87 and 5.41 MeV has been calculated from (1.38±0.09)x10-3trackn-1 and (1.70±0.11)x10-3trackn-1, respectively. The response of the film in the same energies was found to be as 0.15±0.03 and 0.17±0.03trackcm-2mSv-1, respectively
