AbstractAbstract
[en] Retroperitoneal Schwannomas are very rare benign tumours of adult age which because of their localisation cause clinically unspecific abdominal complaints as well as pain that extends to the hips and legs. A precise pre-operative diagnosis may be difficult as benign and malignant neurogenic tumours may have similar images. Tomographic techniques have the function on the one hand of providing an accurate picture of the tumour size and the structures involved as well as helping the establishment of differential diagnoses. Surgical excision is the therapy of choice, and as a rule the normal condition is re-established. (orig.)
