AbstractAbstract
[en] In Microwave Rocket, a high power microwave beam ionizes atmospheric air inside of the thruster and the ionization front drives a shock wave. In this paper, CFD simulation was conducted using measured propagation velocity of the ionization front to evaluate the engine performance. As a result, maximum cycle efficiency was obtained at the power density of about 200 kW/m2 which is the transitional beam power condition between Microwave Supported Combustion and Microwave Supported Detonation regimes
