AbstractAbstract
[en] Antimony (Ill) phosphate belongs to the class of layered inorganic phosphates and is a potential intercalating material for organic molecules. It can be a good host for lanthanide ions (Ln3+) as ionic radius of Sb3+ (0.76 A0) is expected to be comparable with that of lanthanide ions with coordination number four. The present communication deals with the energy transfer between Ce3+ and Tb3+ ions brought about by the surface modification of the SbPO4:Ln3+ (Ln = Ce, Tb) nanoparticles and nanoribbons by undoped SbPO4 or silica. Based XRD and TEM studies formation of crystalline nanoparticles/nanoribbons have been confirmed. Nanoparticles/ nanoribbons are dispersible in solvents like water and methanol due to the presence of ethylene glycol moiety on their surface
