AbstractAbstract
[en] Uranium dioxide is used in the preparation of fuel pellets for nuclear power reactors. Several steps are involved in this process including leaching from ores, purification by ion exchange or solvent extraction, precipitation, reduction etc. The monitoring of uranium concentration in all these process streams is essential to evaluate the efficiency of the extraction or stripping step. Several analytical methods, such as spectrophotometry and fluorometry are used for uranium quantification. Electrochemical sensors, offer the advantages of covering a wide range of concentrations, elimination of prior separation from the impurities, high sensitivity, accuracy and precision, low cost and on line measurement
