[en] Optodes offer an efficient method to quantify low level of radioactivity in aqueous samples. Optodes are chemical transducers that preconcentrate the target radionuclides in a sensing material, generally polymer membranes, and generate optical signal proportional to the amount of radionuclide in the sample. Scintillating optodes have been reported for selective extraction and detection of trivalent elements like 147Pm, 154Eu and 241Am. Chemically selective scintillating optode for TcO4- ions in aqueous samples was developed by immobilizing the quaternary ammonium extractants and scintillators in the plasticized polystyrene matrix. The optodes were prepared by two different routes involving solvent casting method and spin coating method
