AbstractAbstract
[en] An irradiation facility was designed to meet the following requirements: 1. Accept samples up to five (5) inches in diameter 2. Has a fast neutron flux which was uniform over a six inch long sample; 3. Has a fast neutron flux which was uniform over the depth of the sample; 4. Minimize the effect of the thermal neutron flux on the samples; 5. Reduce the gamma dose rate to a low energy flux; 6. Produce a fast flux intensity to allow the exposure time to be one hour or less. The design, construction, and proposed method of installation of the irradiation tube was submitted to the Reactor Safeguards Committee for approval. The committee made several recommendations for installing the tube, and for making radiation surveys to ensure safe operation of the tube
