AbstractAbstract
[en] MORSE calculations that modeled the reactor and irradiation cell indicate that the number of high energy (> 13.5 Mev) fission neutrons from the reactor that enter the cell is 5 x 1011 n/s for a reactor power of 1 MW. A natural lithium deuteride plate that is placed in the irradiation cell window and that contains 3240 gram of LiD will produce a high energy neutron source whose strength will be more than 1 x 1012 n/s. Thus, a fusion plate is expected to more than double the high energy neutron flux within the irradiation cell. A spectrometry system employing an NE-213 detector is being assembled to experimentally measure the high energy flux enhancement due to the fusion plate. (author)
