AbstractAbstract
[en] In this study, the variability of the irradiation time was measured directly, and its effect on the variability of the saturation term calculated for a few illustrative induced activities of interest. In typical pneumatic-tube INAA work, the principal contributors to the percent a of the various net photopeak count (NPPC) values are: (1) photopeak counting statistics, (2) variations in saturation term due to the variability of the irradiation time, and (3) other small uncertainties due to small variations 1 in counting geometry, corrections for analyzer deadtime (for counting in the clocktime mode), corrections for pulse pileup, and corrections for sample gamma-ray self attenuation. In the illustrative example the result in a combined (square root of the sum of the squares of the contributing percent values) percent a for such measurements is in the range of about ±1.7 - 3.6%
