AbstractAbstract
[en] The H(8Li,4He)6He reaction has a large positive Q-value (Q=+14.420 MeV) and is the strongest candidate for the depletion of the 8Li nuclei (T1/2 = 838 ms) produced by neutron capture reactions on stable 7Li nuclei in a neutron rich environment. The contribution of the 8Li to the early universe nucleosynthesis could modify abundances and could contribute to bridge the A=8 gap, through the reactions 4He(8Li,n)11B, 8Li(n,γ)9Li, 8Li(d,n)9Li. The nucleus 9Be is formed at high excitation energies in the H(8Li,4He)6He reaction and presents resonances at the astrophysical energies. The radioactive 8Li beam was produced by the 9Be(7Li,8Li)8Be reaction and selected and focused by the superconducting solenoids of the RIBRAS facility, installed at the 8 MV Pelletron Accelerator of the Institute of Physics of the University of Sao Paulo, with typical intensities of 5xl05-106 pps. The reaction in inverse kinematics was studied at four secondary beam energies Elab = 18.3, 16, 14.4 and 13.0 MeV. The detection system consisted of four E-ΔE telescopes (25-1000 μm) at very forward angles on both side of the beam direction. The thick target method was used, with a 7 mg/cm2 (CH2)n polyethylene target, where the 8Li beam is stopped in the target, and the high energy a-particles provenient from the reaction give a direct information on the excitation function of the reaction. The measurements at 4 energies cover the excitation function from Ecm=0 to 2.0 MeV and several resonances can be observed. The results and R-matrix analysis of the resonances will be presented.(author)
