AbstractAbstract
[en] Radio-protective effect of the millimeter irradiation (MMI) has been discovered in conditions of combined effect of MMI (wavelength 5.6 mm, power density 6 mW/cm2, exposures 8 and 30 min) and gamma-radiation (100 and 400 Gy) on maize (hybrid M 450) and triticale (cultivar Ingen 93) seeds. The effect was evaluated according to the following parameters: seed germination energy, total content of freely soluble proteins and activity of IAA-oxidase in coleoptiles and rootlets of seedlings. It was revealed that MMI stimulated metabolic processes in germinating seeds as compared with the variant of separate gamma-radiation effect on seeds. (authors)
