AbstractAbstract
[en] One of the more promising high density alloys for use in water cooled power reactors is U3Si. This report gives the correlation between the corrosion rate of this fuel and the silicon content, also the effect upon the corrosion rate of sheathing, irradiation, and the addition of ternary elements. Unirradiated delta phase U3Si has sufficient corrosion resistance over a fairly wide composition range, 3.6 wt% to 4.0 wt% silicon. Few irradiated specimens, and none to high burnup, have been corroded, and further testing is required. (author)
