AbstractAbstract
[en] Spaceships moving on near-Earth orbits pass through 3 different radiation zones: (i) galactic cosmic radiation (GCR) zone, (ii) the South-Atlantic Anomaly (SAA) zone, and (iii) the outer radiation band (ORB) zone. An active detector needs to be used to determine the nature of the radiation field on board the spaceships. The use of the Liulin semiconductor deposited energy spectrometer is discussed. New methods are proposed for the determination of the spatial dose equivalent H*(10) for the various radiation zones, assuming that the radiation field on board the space ship is composed of: (i) low linear transfer particles and high linear transfer particles in the GCR zone, (ii) protons in the SAA zones, and (iii) electrons in the ORB zone. The SPENVIS code was used to determine the particle fluence distribution. Data measured on board ISS in July 2001 and in January 2009 and on board the FOTON M3 satellite of September 2007 were analyzed. (P.A.)
