[en] The student training course using the experimental fast reactor Joyo of the Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA) and related facilities has been initiated based on the JAEA's mission to contribute to the human development program of the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) and Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI). These courses were also strongly supported by the faculty of nuclear engineering of domestic universities whose curriculum has recently been reduced. This report summarizes the contents about core physics simulation experiments using full scope Joyo operating simulator. Training is performed using a full-scope type Joyo core and plant simulator, which duplicated all the main control panels located in the Joyo central control room. The simulator enables to offer a real time simulation of the plant behaviors by applying the plant dynamic analysis code Mimir-N2. In Mimir-N2, the dynamic characteristics are calculated based on one point approximation reactor dynamics and one-dimensional thermo-hydraulics calculations. Students experienced criticality approach, control rod calibration and feedback reactivity experiments such as iso-thermal temperature coefficient and power coefficient. Through the simulation experiments, it is expected for students to experience the operation of the power reactor and to understand reactor physics, especially the feedback reactivity phenomena due to different mechanism in relevant time sequences after the event. It is also expected to activate the relating research and technology development through the close relationship between JAEA and universities. (author)
