AbstractAbstract
[en] L-threonine single crystal was successfully grown from aqueous solution. The morphology of the grown crystal was compared with the predicted morphology using Bravais-Friedel-Donnay-Harker law and was found to be in good agreement with the predicted morphology. Good optical quality bulk single crystal of enhanced size has been grown using unidirectional crystal growth method. High-resolution X-ray analysis study resulted in a rocking curve with a full width half maximum of 20 arc sec exhibiting the good crystalline quality of the grown crystal. The optical transmission study shows 90% of transmission in the entire visible region that exhibits the good optical quality of the grown crystal. The mechanical properties were analyzed by Vicker's microhardness method.
