AbstractAbstract
[en] Radiotherapy in head and neck tumors has played an important role especially in those tumors difficult to approach surgically. However, the treatment of locoregional recurrence remains a major challenge. Very often, the success of salvage treatment of tumor recurrence is low. Most patients with locoregional recurrence developed progressive recurrent disease accompanied by intense suffering. This paper aims to show a patient who was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma of the nasopharynx which was irradiated with maximum dose of 70 Gy with 2D technique in two dimensions with 2 opposing lateral fields and one directly above. The same 2 years later had a recurrence in the right cervical region which underwent a radical neck dissection and radiotherapy. At present 1 year after the latter procedure has a polypoid lesion in the nasopharynx. The patient then be discussed with surgeons, radio therapists and chemotherapist is decided on its excellent overall using a three-dimensional radiotherapy 3D with the help of the fusion of images obtained with the fusion of MRI and CT scans in the ERGO system radiotherapy planning allows us to perform this action. Information was processed and define the target volume to be treated (PTV) and organs at risk (OAR), prescribe the concentrated dose in the PTV and limiting it to the OHR. We used a conformal radiotherapy (3D CRT) were evaluated dose-volume histograms in order to know the dose to be received by OAR specifically the core. Verified the correct implementation of the plans calculated using conventional plates conventional treatment simulator and web plates obtained in the treatment team. The results were: OAR were not affected and the tumor disappeared again. (Author)
