AbstractAbstract
[en] A new regime of laser-plasma interaction involving short and intense laser pulses has produced electron beams of high quality. A quasi monoenergetic electron beam of 170 MeV has been generated over an acceleration distance of only 3 mm. These electron beams have particular features such as: they proceed from a very short source point (< 10 μm), they have a very low divergence, and the electron packets are very short (< 50 fs). (A.C.)
