AbstractAbstract
[en] This report summarizes the improvement, examinations and measurement of actual wastes in the nondestructive measurement system using the passive gamma method applied to the evaluation of the quantity of uranium in the container waste(1m3). The following are the results. (1) Accuracy of the quantity of uranium in the container waste was ±50% by examinations using sources and simulated waste. (2) The validity of the evaluation of the quantity of uranium in the container waste by this system was confirmed by cross-checking with the system for the drum. (3) If the radioactivity is higher than 1.0Bq(U-238)/g of the container waste, the Facing Couple Method is useful. If it is lower than that value, the Gross Method is useful. If the source is unevenly distributed and interrupted, the Source Position Setting Method is useful. (4) If the total weight of the container waste is 1t, the detection limit in the evaluation by NaI(Tl) detector is about 20g(U-238) at the center of the container, 3g(U-238) at the surface of the container. In the evaluation by Ge detector is about 70g(U-238) at the center, 10g(U-238) at the surface. (author)
