AbstractAbstract
[en] The new ion microprobe was installed in 2009. The microprobe is based on Oxford Microbeams Ltd. components. It allows focusing light MeV ions down to a beam spot size of 1 μm2 and scan the ion beam on sample across the area up to 2x2 mm2. The microprobe vacuum chamber is equipped with detectors for PIXE, RBS and STIM analytical methods and with an XYZ stage for precise positioning of samples. Since its installation, the ion microbeam at Rez has been used for various application in brain research, investigations of geological samples, modification of materials with ion beams (Ion beam writing, hammering) and in archaeology. Some examples of the research projects are presented. (author)
