[en] nanocomposites based on butyl acrylate and styrene monomers were synthesized through the process of free radical polymerization in miniemulsion. An aqueous solution of silver nanoparticles was synthesized and incorporated as the continuous phase (aqueous) to the dispersed phase (oil). To this mixture was added the hydrophobic agent hexadecane and subject to thermodynamic stabilization bu ultrasonification. The nanocomposite films were characterized by FTIR and XRF and their thermal properties evaluated by DSC and TGA. (author)
