AbstractAbstract
[en] This Power Point presentation contains data and figures on the different primary energy sources in France and in the World, their foreseen evolution during the 21. century, energy reserves, uranium needs for France and for the World, the issue of sustainability for nuclear reserves. It addresses the process of fuel production by fuel consumption, the transmutation process. It presents the characteristics of a sodium fast-breeder reactor (FBR), recalls the experience gained by previous fast breeder reactors. Then it presents the ASTRID demonstrator project, its planning, its various available options, the boiler design, issues concerning the fuel and core, safety and security aspects, the energy conversion system, the in-service control and inspection, and the faced challenges
