AbstractAbstract
[en] The air oxidation at 175-400oC of unirradiated and irradiated UO2 fuel fragments was characterized by apparent activation energies of 140 ± 10 and 120 ± kJ/mol, respectively. There was a small enhancement in rate of weight gain for irradiated fragments compared with unirradiated fragments up to about ∼300oC; from 300o to 400oC there was no significant difference in oxidation rate. Air availability had a strong effect on rate of weight change above 300oC. (author)
