AbstractAbstract
[en] Thermochemical and electrochemical studies of oxygen species in molten carbonates at 500-750 deg. C show that molecular oxygen is unstable in these media and reacts with the melt to produce reduced species such as peroxide and superoxide ions. The determination of the electrochemical parameters displays that the electrochemical reactions are reversible, diffusion controlled and that acidity does not intervene in the electrochemical process. Studies of nickel in operating conditions of molten carbonate fuel cells in sodium - potassium carbonate eutectic at 750 deg. C, show that nickel is oxidized by oxygen into NaNiO2, a soluble nickel (III) oxide. (author)

L'etude thermochimique et electrochimique des especes de l'oxygene dans les carbonates alcalins fondus a 500-750 deg. C montre que l'oxygene moleculaire est instable dans ces milieux et subit une reaction d'antidismutation pour produire des especes de degre d'oxydation intermediaire: ions peroxyde et superoxyde. La determination des parametres electrochimiques montre que les reactions electrochimiques sont reversibles, controlees par la diffusion de ces especes, et ne font pas intervenir l'acidite dans le processus a l'electrode. L'etude du nickel dans les conditions de fonctionnement des piles a combustible a carbonate alcalin fondu dans l'eutectique Na2CO3-K2CO3 a 750 deg.
